"We have been clients of Cornelia's Canine Training since 2016. Cornelia's skills and patience have been instrumental in enabling both my adopted German Shepherd Dogs to pass the evaluations for Good Citizen and Therapy Dog certifications. We continue to attend recurring training with her and her associates as well. Cornelia's emphasis on training dog and handler as a team has allowed us to be of service to our local hospital and community. Thanks always, Cornelia! 🐾 🐾

“We met Cornelia at an outdoor cafe’ where our German Shepherd was barking at every dog that walked by and her German Shepherd was laying down calmly, without a leash, not caring about the other dogs. She said, “I can help you that behavior if you like.” At that time, we were working with another trainer who we thought could help us with that problem. About two months later, when our dog’s behavior hadn’t changed, we called Cornelia, and couldn’t have been happier with our choice.
“Through individual sessions that lead into group sessions, our German Shepherd has lost his fear-biting tendencies, has become friendly toward all people, can be around other dogs calmly and obeys all of our commands all of the time. Cornelia helped us to have the dog of our dreams.
“Cornelia’s commitment to us and our dogs has been very sincere and refreshing. She doesn’t give up! Our dog was sick for about 8 months and had to stop training, and she called us almost weekly to check on him and us. Her free follow up group classes are continuous and help us keep the training fresh in our minds and the dogs’ minds.
“She has also helped us with our older Shepherd who needed some “fine tuning”. We have seen her take on all types of dogs, with all kinds of behavioral problems and make them well-behaved dogs. She is a gentle but firm leader with the dogs and has a very even-temperament that the dogs respond to and respect.
“We highly recommended Cornelia to anyone who cares about their dog and wants to bring out the best in their dog.”

“Cornelia helped me help turn my sweet male pit (Teddy) into a great canine citizen. He is my first pit bull – and I wanted to make sure he was well-trained so I could show others what great dogs these are.
“He is great off-leash and plays very well with all other dogs. He’s a regular at the doggie daycare, Dioji, in Goleta. He LOVES children, and adults. Basically he is a big lap dog that just wants his belly rubbed and then gives you thanks with endless kisses !
“However, at about 7 months old, he became aggressive towards some (not all) other dogs while he was on a leash. I did not want that to continue, so Cornelia worked with Teddy and me to turn that behavior around. She started us both back to the basic commands to make sure we had a solid foundation to work from. And slowly we progressed to taking him out around other dogs to work on the leash aggression. Cornelia helped us tremendously and gave me the confidence to walk Teddy in many different situations and showed me how to curb his ‘enthusiasm’ when other dogs approached him.
“Now I look forward to bringing him to Cornelia’s group lessons so I can show Teddy off and watch how far he has come !! Having a well-trained dog makes dog ownership even more awesome !!
“Thanks, Cornelia for helping give me this gift !”

“Hi Cornelia, Tom and I so appreciate what you have done for us with Sadie. She actually comes when we call her, will sit on command, and stays when told to. I think the most impressive command in her training is “leave it”. When a neighbor’s cat comes on to our property and she wants to chase it, a simple “leave it” and the cat can roam to it heart’s content. Amazing! Oh, and this works when she wants to pick tomatoes. She now knows not to help herself instead to wait for us to give her some.
“I’d love to tell you we work with her regularly to keep her sharp on the commands, but we are lazy and she seems to remember everything so well.
“Sadie is totally obedient, but given the “go play” command, she’s a silly puppy again.
“Thank you again for a super, well trained dog.”

“Hi Cornelia; Charlie is doing well. His recall is great thanks to you, along with the other commands we have worked on.
“He will be much safer now that we have worked with you. Your manner and training techniques work, remember Charlie is a Jack Russel.
“Knowing that Charlie was with and your family while on vacation put us at ease. Marilyn and I knew he was in the best hands.
“I know he got as much love from you as he does at home.
“Charlie will be back for another visit too. Thank you.”

“Cornelia is so compassionate and patient who gave me a dog that changed from unruly to a well-trained dog almost overnight. I was unable to walk her without pulling and not paying attention to my commands (she weighed about 97 lbs) and I could see myself on the ground. What a difference after her training. Thank you so much, Cornelia.”

“We are so lucky to have found Cornelia when we were looking for someone to help us with our chocolate lab puppy, Joni. Joni, like all new pups needed basic house and routine training, as well as obedience training. She also had come from an environment that somehow had left her terrified of getting into cars, fearful of loud noises and numerous other odd behavioral habits. Cornelia has turned Joni into the perfect dog! We are so impressed by Cornelia’s ability to immediately identify the problems, and know what will work to correct them. She is Santa Ynez Valley’s very own “dog whisperer.”

“Lacey, our eight month old Golden Retriever has improved tremendously with Cornelia’s guidance. Lacey was a very defiant, spoiled puppy who was a nightmare to take on walks. She now walks quietly, without pulling, and is a pleasure. Lacey has learned her obedience commands and with Cornelia’s help we are learning too. A well-behaved dog makes a much happier household.”

- “Our family adopted Max when he was just 4 months old and we have been working with Cornelia since we brought him home. Cornelia’s dog training lessons are professional, informational with positive reinforcement and have been a wonderful, family experience. Cornelia encouraged everyone in our family to come work together in the training with Max, we couldn’t be happier for doing so.
- “Max has graduated from his puppy class and we continue our training with Cornelia on a monthly basis~ Thanks Cornelia for a GREAT experience!”

“I was referred to Cornelia Martin through a friend who boasted highly of her talents. I have a “high-octane” white standard poodle that NEEDED to be trained. She would jump on the grand kids and pin them to the ground so she could give them a proper kissing. She goes to work with me each day and my co-workers actually encouraged her to jump up because she is as tall as them and they thought it was cute. She wouldn’t come, walk nicely on a leash, sit (too much energy), or stay. Everything was a game to Lilly Marlene. She’s not a bad girl at all … just full of herself! She LOVES LIFE! I wanted to make sure I took her to someone that would not break her spirit … just teach her obedience.
“I now have a very happy, well trained dog that I can walk on a leash and be proud of. Lilly Marlene loves Cornelia and so do my grand children J”
